Eileen is inspired to capture the beauty & community in her “building portraits”.
Though Eileen Backman loves the Midwestern countryside, what inspires her artistic passions most is capturing the beauty and community of downtown Bloomington. Eileen, a self taught artist, works in inks, watercolor and acrylic to bring the magic and soul of our great city to life.
Eileen moved to Bloomington in 2001 with her husband, Jon. After becoming an empty nester, Eileen returned to her childhood artistic passions and began to create art again; Participating in online exhibits, selling work online, and showing her work at Main Gallery 404 in downtown Bloomington, Illinois. In 2021, Eileen joined two other artists to purchase the Main Gallery 404 art gallery downtown.
